AMD and DTK Provide Affordable Computing Solutions in the Middle East
DTK Computer Middle East, a leading technology brand and IT developer, has made it possible for consumers in the region to buy a high-performance personal computer utilizing AMD technology at an affordable price. As part of its latest release of a new range of AMD-based products, including servers, notebooks, and PCs, DTK launched the Cruiser 5015 desktop PC with an end-user price tag of US $249.
The regional roll out of the Cruiser PC is part of a greater worldwide effort from DTK and has been developed in conjunction with AMD's 50x15 Initiative, which aims to enable 50 percent of the world's population with affordable Internet access and computing capability by the year 2015. The PC includes an AMD Sempron 3000 processor, 64-bit architecture, a 40GB hard drive, 52x CD-Rom, fax modem, and Linux/Open Office software.
"The 50x15 PC has a lot of potential. I have been working in the industry for the last 18 years; I know the significance of this machine. There will be other companies following suit and releasing similar products, but so far in the market I don't think there is a machine with this specification for this price," said Nimar Al Attal, managing director at DTK Computer Middle East.
DTK and AMD's launch of the Cruiser is an important step toward increasing IT penetration in Middle Eastern markets. The release of the low-cost computer will reduce the technology gap in the region and accelerate AMD's mission to empower consumers with connectivity on a global basis.
